Yes it is horrible. And maybe homophobic and transphobic language did lead to this, but we cannot and should not ban speech in any way. This would be the wrong answer as it will lead down a road that ends with people not allowed to say things that disagree with the establishment. I am not saying that is what you want, I am just uneasy of anything that may lead towards crimes of speech.

 @robtidwell , I personally don’t think you understand the way she thinks. I live with her and know that she has nothing but love for everyone, including you. She has mentioned it many times. But like me she gets “triggered” (if that is the correct word) when freedom of expression is questioned. She is absolutely not homo or transphobic having lived with those who are trans and homosexual. She doesn’t even consider that an issue when it comes to who is her friend or not. Some of her friends are exactly the people who would go to that night club. We used to live in Orlando and went to gay night clubs with our friends. She is very deeply concerned of their well being and the well being of everyone who may have been there at that club.

This is a “speaking different language” thing.

This may be an uninformed statement. According to statistics, 500,022 (57%) persons living with an HIV diagnosis in the United States were gay. That is only 7% over the non-gay population. So the increase in risk is not that much more. If the paramedics follow proper procedure, there should be no issue. And their risk is only slightly higher than if they were attending to any incident among the population.

Yes there is an increase but I don’t think that there should be any cause for concern, especially if proper medical practices are followed.
